Roller Texturing Shot Blasting Machine

Our company's shot blasting equipment is developed based on the shot blasting products and technologies of US-based Pangborn Corporation and Germany's V+S Company, closely tracking the latest advancements in their shot blasting products through dedicated research and meticulous craftsmanship. The first roll-texturing shot blasting machine in China was jointly developed by our current chief technical engineer and a Taiwanese engineer, drawing on the products of Japan's Sintokogio. The shot circulation system, steel grit flow control valve, dust collector, and shot blasting wheel have all become mature, serialized products of our company. The core component—the shot blasting wheel—utilizes technology from US-based Pangborn Corporation. The grit hopper is equipped with level switches to indicate the maximum and minimum steel grit levels in the storage tank, linked to an automatic grit addition system to ensure a sufficient supply of steel grit for the shot blasting machine. The monitoring system uses an industrial computer with a touchscreen display, and communication between the industrial computer and PLC is via the MPI protocol. This is currently the most automated roll-texturing shot blasting machine in China.

Shot blasting texturing is a non-contact texturing method that uses high-speed projectiles from a shot blasting wheel to blast the workpiece surface from a distance. Therefore, this process is not limited by the size, shape, or weight of the workpiece being treated. Shot blasting technology is currently the most widely used, economical, and reliable cleaning method internationally.
The working principle of shot blasting texturing involves using a high-speed rotating shot blasting wheel to convert the kinetic energy of the projectiles into impact force on the workpiece surface. High-hardness steel grit is centrifugally accelerated by the shot blasting wheel to speeds of 57.5 to 86.54 m/s according to a preset program, and then blasted onto the roll surface. This creates numerous random, roughened, and strengthened sand-like surfaces on the roll. The intense, high-speed impact of the steel grit on the roll surface induces cold working hardening, making the quenched layer denser without damaging the metal fiber structure of the roll surface, thereby increasing the contact fatigue strength of the roll surface.

The efficiency of shot blasting texturing depends on the quantity, size, speed, and impact direction of the projectiles. Therefore, the economic and technical indicators of shot blasting texturing equipment rely almost entirely on the performance of the shot blasting wheel.
Roll texturing, on the other hand, uses uniform shot blasting bombardment to make the working surface of already ground steel rolling rolls uniformly rough. Textured rolls with appropriate, uniform, and high-strength surface roughness can be directly used for rolling and tempering cold-rolled thin sheets. This increases roll speed, improves sheet shape, reduces surface scratches, and helps prevent adhesion during coil annealing. Textured sheets rolled with such rolls exhibit good elongation and formability, excellent paint gloss, and strong chemical coating adhesion, making them high-quality materials for automobiles, home appliances, electronic devices, and decorative panels.

RE21Roll Surface Shot Blasting Texturing Machine Working Principle

After the trolley enters the shot blasting chamber, it locks in place. The workpiece (i.e., the roll) is supported on two bidirectional adjustable self-rotating rubber support shafts (rollers) on the trolley, rotating uniformly around its axis. The shot blasting unit is mounted on a reciprocating overhead trolley that moves back and forth, blasting special shot pellets to bombard the working surface of the workpiece, achieving uniform roughness on the working surface without compromising the original geometric accuracy (including crown height). Workpiece → Trolley in → Moving shot blasting → Trolley out

RE21 Roll Surface Shot Blasting Texturing Machine System Configuration

1. To leave impact marks on the workpiece surface for achieving surface roughness, the hardness of the shot must be 10–20% higher than that of the workpiece surface.

2. 1 shot blasting wheel: Equipped with a high-power (Panborn technology) curved blade shot blasting wheel.

3. Shot addition and shot circulation are both screened by 2 sets of three-basket, four-layer rotary vibrating screens to ensure uniform shot particle size, thereby guaranteeing uniform impact marks on the workpiece surface.

4. The dust generated by the machine's shot circulation system is ultrafine particulate dust. Two cartridge dust collectors are specially configured in series to ensure dust removal efficiency, achieving zero environmental pollution.

5. In the power system of this machine: the workpiece rotation motor on the trolley, the reciprocating translation motor of the shot blaster at the top of the chamber, and the shot blaster motor all use variable frequency speed control motors. This allows users to adjust the respective motor speeds at the mentioned positions when changing shot types or workpiece types. The machine can arbitrarily set the travel distance, always achieving the best quality/efficiency performance ratio. This ensures the machine's performance ratio has strong adaptability to rollers of different widths.
