In recent years, based on the advantages of ordinary plastic-coated steel pipes and combined with the flexible socket joint characteristics of ductile iron pipes, China has innovatively developed flexible socket plastic-coated steel pipes, which have been widely promoted and used in various fields.
Currently, both domestically and internationally, flexible joints are used for almost all buried water transmission pipelines, including ductile iron pipes, large-diameter (PVC/PE) plastic pipes, fiberglass pipes, prestressed reinforced concrete pipes, and prestressed steel cylinder concrete pipes (PCCP). Only steel pipelines still use welding technology. In developed countries such as the United States and Germany, flexible joints have begun to be preferred for buried water transmission pipelines. Only when the pipeline working pressure exceeds 2.8 MPa is the pipe-end welding construction process adopted.
Flexible socket plastic-coated steel pipes are still in the early stages of development in China, with broad application prospects and huge market potential, and they are bound to become the first choice for pipeline network construction.
