Applications of Cold-Rolled Thin Steel Sheets in Daily Life

Roll texturing shot blasting machines play an important role in the roll texturing process. Cold-rolled thin steel sheets with special surface topography are widely used in the manufacturing industry, especially in the automotive and home appliance sectors.

In the production and application research of cold-rolled thin steel sheets, it has been found that a series of surface topography parameters of the cold-rolled sheet have a significant impact on process properties such as stamping performance and coating brightness. The surface topography of the cold-rolled sheet largely depends on the surface topography of the work rolls and temper rolls during the cold rolling process. Essentially, the surface topography of the rolled steel sheet is an attenuated "copy" of the roll surface topography.

Therefore, the roll texturing technology, researched and controlled by the technical personnel of Hongxu United Equipment Company, for studying and controlling the surface topography of cold rolling rolls and cold-rolled steel sheets, emerged as needed.

Our company's roll texturing technology includes research on the relationship between the surface topography of textured steel sheets and their process properties, research on the roll texturing process, and the development of texturing equipment.

In recent years, advanced industrial countries have conducted extensive research on roll texturing technology and applied it industrially. With the development of industries such as automotive and home appliances, higher quality requirements have been placed on cold-rolled thin sheets. Studies on the surface topography and process properties of cold-rolled steel sheets have found that, to improve process properties such as stamping performance and coating brightness of cold-rolled steel sheets, a series of parameters including traditional surface roughness must be introduced as criteria to describe the surface topography of cold-rolled sheets.

Surface Roughness Ra: The Ra of textured rolls is generally between 1 and 10 μm. A larger Ra is beneficial for improving the stamping performance of short materials and coating adhesion, while a smaller Ra helps enhance the brightness of the sheet after coating.

Peak Density PPI: Defined as the number of surface peaks with a height greater than 1.27 μm per inch of length. The higher the PPI value, the better the coating adhesion.

Waviness WCA: The unevenness on the steel sheet surface exhibits periodic variations of different wavelengths.

Among the above parameters, each independently describes the surface topography of the cold-rolled sheet, yet they also influence each other. The most extensively studied parameter is surface roughness Ra.
